Candles At Four O'Clock

Surely everyone is aware
of the divine pleasures
which attend a wintry fireside;
candles at four o'clock,
warm hearthrugs, tea, a fair tea-maker,
shutters closed, curtains flowing
in ample draperies to the floor,
whilst the wind and rain
are raging audibly without.

Bob Dylan / Johnny Cash; Girl from the North Country

I had no time for romance.
I turned away from the window,
from the wintry sun,
crossed through the room,
went to the stove
and made and poured myself
a cup of hot chocolate
and then clicked on the radio.
