Same As It Ever Was




One day a young Buddhist on his long journey home came to the banks of a raging river. Staring hopelessly at the great obstacle in front of him, he pondered for hours on how to cross such a wide barrier. Just as he was about to give up his pilgrimage, he saw a famous monk on the opposite shore. The young seeker called out: "Oh wise one, can you tell me how to get to the other side of this river?"
The monk considered the question for a moment, looked up and down the river, and then yelled back:
"My son, you are on the other side."
